Rotary Takes on Fall Street Faire
Spurr Financial, Northern Bank and Lahey Health Gold Sponsors

The Rotary Club of Reading has taken over the reins from the Town of Reading to bring you the Ninth Annual Reading Fall Street Faire on Sunday, September 10, from noon to 5 pm.
Event Chair Sheila Clarke who has been involved in the planning of the Street Faire in previous years has put Rotarians to work gathering sponsors, securing vendors, attracting entertainment, getting publicity and enticing volunteers to offer this adventure to the public. The Faire has become an anticipated and popular event each fall, with estimates of up to 15,000 people attending.
“We are very excited about continuing this affair,” said Clarke. “After being supported by the Town for eight years under Town committees, it was time to hand over the Fall Street Faire to an outside group. An easy yes to the mission of service above self -- I was lured in, knowing The Rotary Club is a perfect match to the mission of the Street Faire. Any profits they make will be re-invested into the community and other Rotary charitable causes.”
Clarke went on to say, “The Reading Fall Street Faire would not be possible without the generosity of sponsors. Early commitments have come from Spurr Financial in Reading, Northern Bank in Reading and Lahey Health in Burlington who are all Gold Sponsors.”
Kathi Spurr and her dad Newt Spurr bring over 50 years of investment experience to Spurr Financial Investments. Spurr Financial helps align personal goals with financial decisions. The family has been a part of the Reading community for 100 years. Both are dedicated Reading Rotarians and board members and past presidents and treasurers of the Reading-North Reading Chamber of Commerce, Newt being a founding father. Kathi is also Food Committee Chair for the Street Faire.
“We strive to see that clients are protected and prepared. We want our efforts to mean maintaining lifestyles for years to come,” said Kathi. Spurr Financial will sponsor the Children’s Area at the Faire.
Northern Bank Assistant Vice President and Reading Branch Manager Virginia Yeanacopolis (Ginnie) is looking forward to being a sponsor for the Street Faire. Northern Bank takes an entrepreneurial, commonsense approach to providing a complete line of banking and investment solutions. Ginnie is on the board of the Reading-North Reading Chamber of Commerce.

“The Faire gives us the opportunity to talk to people about our mission. We are deeply invested in the communities we serve and passionately committed to helping our customers grow,” said Ginnie. “Like the many entrepreneurs we serve, our passion is growing our business the right way, one customer, one relationship at a time, in it for the long term.” Northern Bank will sponsor the Antique Car Show at the Faire.

Lahey Health is welcomed to the Street Faire as a prominent name in health care, committed to providing a full continuum of health care services close to where patients live and work. Lahey Health includes nearly 1,400 locally based physicians throughout northeastern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire. Winchester Hospital, a Lahey Health member, and well-known in the Reading community, is the first hospital in Massachusetts to earn Magnet recognition, the American Nurses Association’s highest honor for nursing excellence, three times. The 229-bed facility provides comprehensive health care services, including bariatric and vascular surgery, orthopedics, pediatrics, cardiology, pulmonary medicine, oncology, gastroenterology, rehabilitation, radiation oncology, pain management, obstetrics/ gynecology and a Level IIB Special Care Nursery.
“We’re pleased to support the Reading Rotary and the Reading Fall Street Faire,” said Christine Healey, Director of Community Relations, Lahey Health. “Participating in community events like this gives us a fantastic opportunity to engage with community members and educate them on health topics that matter most to the Reading community.” Lahey Health will sponsor the Stage on the Common.
This family-friendly event is a great way to re-acquaint with friends, neighbors, local politicians, local businesses and opportunities after the summer recess. It will feature two stages, live entertainment, music, food, food trucks, children’s activities and more. A 5K road race open to children and adults under the direction of Lori Haverty of Tread will take place at 8:30 am before the Faire activities.
Those interested in sponsorship, volunteering, reserving a space as a vendor or running in the 5K race can register at fallstreetfaire.com. Vendors are placed on a first-come, first-served basis. Register early to secure a prime spot and before the August 21 deadline to avoid a late fee.
